It’s actually better that they are not peeping than if they are. I mean it’s great if they do pleasure peeps, but they also have distress peeps and as long as they aren’t doing those they should be ok! The food you are feeding them is fine and their brooder setup is fine too. You have nothing to worry about!

100* is too hot. the temp directly under the heat lamp, at the level of the chicks should be 90 - 95*. You don't need to worry about the humidity. The temp at the opposite end of the brooder should be what ever your current home temperature is. You can provide those lower temps that are so very important by providing a nice big brooder. By the time they are 2 - 3 weeks old, they should have 2 s.f. of open space in the brooder PER CHICK. You can also use a lower watt bulb, and raise the heat lamp higher.

If the chicks are huddling together and yelling loudly, they may be cold. Any time you see a chick panting, you have a crisis of overheating on your hands. An overheated chick can not cool herself off, and will die if you do not provide the cooler temps they need.

If a chick is upset or “distressed” will let out a loud, ear piercing peep to let you know. Some chicks are quieter than others, consider it a blessing!

The food you are feeding is fine, and as long as you start the brooder temperature at 90* F and decrease by 5* F each weeks they should do great!

You’re brooder is acceptable, but if you want to liven it up you can add a mirror, some sticks to perch on, some fluffy pompoms or cat toys to play with (big enough so they can’t eat them) or dome weeds to peck st and eat. Make sure to provide grit if you give them any food that is not their starter.
