To get paid while hurt it has to be job related. UNLESS you have short term disablility or long term disibility. Vacation or personal time to take. But we do have the family leave act, you should not loose your job if you employer has a certain number of employee's and you take for extended period because of a loved one.

Doesn't work that way here.....if you are off sick for whatever reason.....you get your Sick pay....granted it is not as much as your usual pay..but it is enough to carry on your life with...you are not left high and dry.....we are very lucky here in the UK.....and besides that most companies also have whats called "Sick days" you get so many per year on full pay.......thats before Statutory Sick pay kicks in.....

Can you explain Statuoury (sp) sick pay ? Have not heard of that. Just wonder how that differs for what we have here in the US.

I work in a lab and I keep BYC up on my computer screen. You should see some of the looks I get from patients when they see a chicken on the screen. So I guess you could say I'm getting paid to be on BYC.

I do the exact same thing i am a security dispatch workign mostly 12 hour shifts and all i do is it her eon byc and chat it up im glad im not the only one owrking the system lol
