Yeah, right... wait til you see the little boogers... you'll be building a new hutch for them in a couple of weeks...

BTW... on the packing... do you think it would help to sandwich the button eggs between inverted cartons? I was wondering if there was enough bubble wrap to cushion between the layers, and I violated my cardinal rule: when in doubt, add more bubbles. Just curious on your thoughts...

The few that arrived broken where due to them shaking out of the carton and getting crushed. Inverting the cartons would be advisable shipping from Alaska.

What were the puppy feet stickers marking on the coturnix? One of those was broken.

The sticker was denoting the one from one of my pairs... she's been having issues lately (lost her beau and rehomed, now new beau) and I wanted to see if her eggs were fertile. She's only laying one a week right now. So it truly was a fertility test.

That's good to know about the cartons. I'll probably continue to cut the cartons in half and sandwich, maybe with some bubble wrap in between. Thanks~ I have another shipment going out Monday, so I'll try it then.

You probably could... I usually don't bother, because my lamp's not strong enough.

I've been told that you can, but I usually just wait until there's no more hatching activity for 2-3 days before shutting the hatch down. The lighter coturnix eggs I've been able to see into, but it's the same thing. Which is probably a good thing, otherwise I'd be candling every day.

Just let me know if the one with the sticker hatches... otherwise, we may be trying out the new recipe for quail!
