i guess i am the only one who does not care for tattoos

That's what I thought.

I, honestly, like tattoos if they're done well. But I still won't judge people if they have crappy tattoos, though I might tease them a little if I were to befriend them. ;P Not to be mean of course.

I like tattoos very much, but not all tattoos. I love well done tattoos, but the crappy ones make me sad. I really don't like tramp stamps, but if someone has one I don't judge.

I have tattoos in visible locations, one fairly large one all the way around my right wrist, and tattoos from halfway down my left forearm to halfway up my upper arm. You can't miss them; they go all the way around my arm.

I am a female, and I think some people are more put off by that more than if I were male. But, like others have posted, that just helps to quickly weed out the shallow, judgmental types.

Not that I got them for that reason, of course!

My husband is a professional, well educated (5 years of college) and extremely intelligent, and he has two tattoos that are easily covered, but he is working on a very large back piece soon. To look at him and talk to him you would never in a million years think he would ever have a tattoo! Lol!

I'm just really fascinated by the art of tattooing, and the skill involved in putting good work on skin. Skin has got to be the one of the hardest mediums out there to "draw" on..

Oh, and I'm with some of the others on here;.. Sleeves are soooo sexy!!!!

What is a hoochie mama?

Yeah, I think I'd rather be around people that accept me than, than hide how I truly am, just to fit in.

I only have a few tattoos, and they are in areas that can be hidden, if I so desired. I have yet to come across anyone that has treated me differently because of them. I realize you may be talking about those with alot of tattoos, or at least more visible ones, but never the less. My tattoos are much more visible in warmer weather, when I wear shorts and tank tops, and no, I don't dress like a hoochie mama, lol!

I assume you chose their location... why there?

I do agree "to each their own" and teach my children the same thing. I have ten tattoos, no one knows that I have that many. Some people don't even know I have any. I can hold a professional position without problem and have a reasonably high IQ. If someone wants to judge me, go for it, you don't matter to me. There is a personal reason for most of my tats. Anyone can generalize about a certain group and will be right most of the time, but not all the time.

My mom hates tattoos, I like them when tastefully done.....to each their own

My initial ones were hidden from mom, just because she is one of those judgemental types. I have chosen locations that I CAN hide if I want to. I have put a lot of thought into my tattoos. It is not something I share with everyone and usually don't tell anyone until they know me, which surprises them because I am one of those types they would never expect to have any. I am multi-faceted in a manner that lets me adapt to many environments and fit in with many crowds. I am currently going back to school to be a high school science teacher(I am a science and math geek) and have started my own product line lately that I am trying out(before introducing). I consider myself a chameleon and am very comfortable with myself, which I think is the most important thing.

I can ride a motorcycle, operate a fork truck, and cook things you would beg for the recipe and my husband is equally capable(and yes, he has a few tats) and respectable

We have only chosen the option to hide our tats because we may need to seek a job from the "judgemental" crowd to support our family...

I have a rather large tat that starts at one shoulder crosses but not totally fills my back and comes around and raps my left hip. Most people would never guess that I would even have a tattoo. It’s not that we hide them but my work was done for just me and was not a statement to the world.
I chose a phoenix because I had a hard choice to make in my life and wanted to have my choice set in ink and never look back with regret over the path I had chosen.
There are times that a ritual can be very impotent to a person facing change or a celebration of joy, a great loss, or a rite of passage.

Agreed. Got my first one at 17 in my senior year in 1980. First in my class in that category and graduated in the top 25% of my class,,55 out of 231. My second came in 2004 with the advent of the last of my children being born, which as a french style cross with a ribbon with my 3 kids names, your kids will always be your kids. My next will be a white-tailed buck(8pts) head, neck, shoulder view to memorialize my fathers death, his love of hunting and passing that on to me,it has been 8 years since his passing but finally found the right deer picture. My last will be for my mom who still here but got it in my mind already, simple crossed flags one American, one Italian with a strand of roses. All of these are just way points in my life.
