I had my rooster "Fred" de-crowed... sad update

That's a shame. And it's a shame we have to go to such lengths.
I didn't keep roosters for a long time, I sold them or ate them when they started to crow.
Then my closest neighbor, when asked if the roosters bothered her, told me she didn't know I had chickens.
I've had roosters ever since.

In other countries urban roosters are common and part of life. They don't have a lot of people working the night shift.

I'm sorry it didn't work! (And I'm sorry you have such picky neighbors - I think that roosters sound romantic and countrified, myself.)

Not trying to pry but, just how much does decrowing surgery cost? Please just a ball park, just curious.
I'd have a couple if they were quite. They do look beautiful.
