I HATE THIS NEW BYC !!!!

It's OK..... It's very... boxical. (Is that a work?) I used to scan through the thread titles to see if there was anything I wanted to read, that doesn't work now.

It feels a bit unfriendly...

Like I said before, boxical.

I find my computer is way too slow to handle all of the 'new' bits.
I really want to stay on the cancer support group and the canning thread if nothing else, but I can not find 'my posts'

I will continue to try though. I have enjoyed this site and have gotten too much useful information and good old belly laughs out of it to chuck it all now.

But I, don't know.
It is brighter and colorful. It seems cleaner... if not perhaps cluttered with other stuff that seems un related to what I am trying to do.
This is my second attempt to make this work today. Maybe I need to just give the site some time to work out the bugs.

Nifty doesn't want to lose us any more than we want to leave BYC.
It is like having your mother in law move in next door. we'll get used to it, and it might be beneficial in the long run. even if it cramps our style now.
but there is a spell check! that is great for those of us who need it.
And the smiles are harder to get to, which may also be great for those of us who over use them.
Change is good for our brains.
we'll work it out.
don't despair.
yet.

I can't say I like it all that much myself - it's been very frustrating just trying to make posts on my older home computer! It seems to be working fine here with the faster machines in the city though.

I hope it'll grow on me, because BYC was honestly a great part of my life that I wouldn't want to quit. :p
I feel the same way.I didn't know what to do with myself yesterday when the site was being upgraded. Now I just don't know how it's going to pan out.I hope it does

Peeps, give it a little time. The team behind this will be doing a lot of tiny little tweaks and bug fixes in the next few days, and the software itself will certainly get some fixes and upgrades in the next few months. Your input is really helpful for that. It does feel awkward and odd right now, but that will ease up, and the new features should add nicely.

For example, I already find PM's much better and friendlier, since the conversations there are threaded- you can see all the past posts while you're typing a response, a great improvement.

Also, the improvements in incorporating pix (and videos) into posts is really nice.

I am much like my chickens... I don't like it when things change but I'll get use to it..... it is not the way the site is set up that makes it is special... its the people who come here that make this site such a great place to visit. I am sure a lot of work and sleepless nights have gone into this recent change....give it a chance... tell them what is wrong and let them fix it.

Although I have to say there is one thing I like - the new URLs, and the login box in the corner. These library computers can only be used in 15 minute blocks, so I used to have to type www.backyardchickens.com/forum/login.php each time, and just logging in took about a minute off my time.

(BTW, I'm on internet explorer, and it's working just as fast, if not faster, than the older version. :D)

I've been through things like this so many times - whether it's a new computer, a new website - or a familiar website undergoing a change. It's a process. Within a few days, most people will become accustomed to the new format and won't think much about how it was in the old format. I just got a new car after having my old car for 12 years. Right now I can't even figure out how to do the automatic garage door opener thing - and the GPS and radio are still part mystery at times. But I'll get it figured out and end up loving it.

I don't like it either ,not at all. My page is messed up.Hard to follow recent posts ,my posts ......Don't like the lay out
OH well .I guess it's something to get use to.

If you go to your profile and look where it says public profile you can go to the left side of that page and see the posts you have made and the threads you have started. Also if you scroll to the very bottom of the page there is your recent activity. I hope this helps.

As a moderator on another board for about 10 years now we have had change too. It takes time for everyone to get used to it. From what I can see now this is a good change for BYC.
