I Hate wrapping presents

I gave it SERIOUS thought. I had a "bike bag" ... but it was hot pink with purple and white polka dots... that just seemed WRONG to this tomboy hence the wrapping adventure.

But given the weight it's not like that bugger was picked up and shaken so no risk of my job being tested.

Just had a brilliant idea for DD... I've been rather stumped... thanks to a friend's FB post... SPARRING GEAR.

And before you freak thinking Sibling Rivalry, both our kiddos are in Martial Arts and DD this past Friday past her test to attain Green... the lowest level who can spar with other students... hence the NEW need for sparring gear. But how the devil do you wrap THAT?!?!

Sparring gear...this is something that I have only recently begun to be aware of beyond its name

Do you mean gear like the foam helmet, stuff for your hands, etc? Or, are you talking about a staff?

If you mean the foam head protection, etc. then toss it in a box, wrap, and call it done. Pillowcase would work for those, too.

If you mean a staff...use a bed sheet! Seriously! You could even "pad" it with a big blanket, so they can't see what's in it. Or, use a red Christmas tablecloth if you have one around.

You could have all kinds of fun with that one. You could tie a big bunch of towels around one end to disguise the shape of the thing...then wrap in the tablecloth or sheet.

Or, get hold of a big cardboard box, cut a long strip of cardboard, and roll it around the staff, then wrap. That one just seems like too much work, and too boring, though.

You could also take a long piece of PVC pipe and slide it down into that, then put PVC caps on the end, ROFL. Stick a bow on and call it done...

I was the only one in my family who enjoyed wrapping presents, so my teen years were spent opening gifts I had wrapped. At least I didn't know it was mine when I wrapped it!

Several decades ago when my brother and I figured out the Santa thing, my mother had us wrap all the family gifts for any occasions from then on. Should have kept our mouths shut.

It was pretty easy to figure out though, as we saved all the used paper. Commonly heard at our home Christmas morning: "My name is on this one three times, and yours is only on here twice. Must be mine"

Rozzie, you feel my pain. Did give DH a staff one year but I think it was B-day so I just put a bow on the bugger.

Given my habit of swapping tags I think with a staff I'd make it look like a broom and then make the tag say To Mom... just cuz I'm devious that way. Mwahahahah.

Yeah I was thinking a bag + gear myself. Mostly the school has gear students can borrow, but still be nice if she at least had her own helmet.... now THAT I could have fun with... buy an el cheapo doll at the thrift store, put the helmet on and THEN wrap.. oh I'm having WAY too much fun planning this.

I gave dh a pitchfork for his birthday years back. I wrapped it to look exactly like a pitchfork. The guests loved it! I actually felt kinda bad when he took the wrapping paper off.

O.K., I love wrapping presents----------until I get about the 5th one done! For some reason, I always put it off until, oh, Dec. 23. That's probably why I don't really like it------too much at once. I am very thankful that my hubby and I have jobs, and can buy presents for others to wrap------I know of a high school girl whose mom told her they weren't going to have Christmas this year because of the expense. It made me want to wrap my arms around her and tell her it would be o.k.-------they are going to go to church on Christmas Eve and celebrate the real meaning of Christmas, though (I think that is more important, and this is going to make a stronger woman of her). Anyway, didn't mean to hi-jack this thread..........

I own a small toy store and we wrap for FREE.... The guys love this even some of the ladies..... But most of the guys want us to wrap their other gifts b/c it"goes with the toy" I usually say yes...until we get to the undies....LOL

So, when it's time to wrap our gifts I'm sick to death of wrapping...so, i buy those nice decorated boxes, 10 in a pack, that everything fits into ....and just tape up each side... I only wrap a few...
tho, this yr. I brought things to the store and wrap some of them there....
