My altitude is 4700 feet.

The hatch I did before started out with 23 eggs. I had sub-zero temps that I was collecting eggs in and also two 4 hour power outages during incubation. On day 18, I had 11 clear eggs and 12 viable ones. Of the 12 viable eggs, I had 10 hatch. I took a look inside the last two eggs and found interesting results. One was completely formed, ready to hatch, but was completely upside-down in it's shell. The other was still very gooey from the fluid around it and still had a whole yolk in with it so I am assuming it quit in the final days. Either way, both were doomed not to hatch.

I had another good hatch that was done completely in the Sportsman right after that one with similar results and a 42% hatch with the shipped eggs I had in there. Not bad for shipping eggs to the frozen wasteland in December.

I can't wait to see what the results from this hatch are. If I have an 83% hatch like I did last time, I'll end up with 35 chicks.

Yeah that's going to be a doozy of a hatch, but all of these other hatches have been in preparation for that one. I have been trying to get it right before I get those eggs here and made arrangements once I felt comfortable, but things just keep getting better and better.

Sounds like you're all set!

the1much is from NM, I think. He hatches a lot of chicks. You may want to send him a PM and ask him what he does and find out what his elevation is compared to yours.

No, he's in Texas (the1much), but he does hatch a lot so he would have a lot of advice, I'm sure!

My bad. Odessa's altitude and climate may be similar to NM though. I've been to Odessa and driven through NM many times going different places. I'm not sure if Writer of Words or Cara incubate and hatch but they live in NM too.

I'll ask around. Thanks for the help. I hope I get incubating down soon. I dont want to go broke in the process. I also dont want to hatch out just any ole bird either. I want what I want dang it! I want pretty Ameraucanas and Silkies...and maybe a couple Marans for good measure.... oh and some B/B/S opringtons too! ROFL
