Mahonri- you are cracking me up, my brother.
My altitude is 4700 feet.
The hatch I did before started out with 23 eggs. I had sub-zero temps that I was collecting eggs in and also two 4 hour power outages during incubation. On day 18, I had 11 clear eggs and 12 viable ones. Of the 12 viable eggs, I had 10 hatch. I took a look inside the last two eggs and found interesting results. One was completely formed, ready to hatch, but was completely upside-down in it's shell. The other was still very gooey from the fluid around it and still had a whole yolk in with it so I am assuming it quit in the final days. Either way, both were doomed not to hatch.
I had another good hatch that was done completely in the Sportsman right after that one with similar results and a 42% hatch with the shipped eggs I had in there. Not bad for shipping eggs to the frozen wasteland in December.
I can't wait to see what the results from this hatch are. If I have an 83% hatch like I did last time, I'll end up with 35 chicks.
