I have a goat problem...

You could cause him injury with a Taser or pepper spray. I wouldn't use either and pushing isn't effective. That's how goats play. I would use a spray bottle with vinegar and water. Spray it right in his face. He'll hate it, but it won't cause him any harm.

ETA: and I'm not a fan of cuddling and making sweet babies out of bucks. Wethers yes, but bucks need to understand boundaries when they are little and easy to control. A mature buck can really hurt you.

If he is a billy he is probably coming into rut. It will only get worse. I picked up a bottle baby this past spring to breed to my dairy goat this fall. He was very well behaved. Didn't head butt, or jump on people. Once he went into rut he was a different goat. It's to be expected of the bucks.
I gave up trying to correct him because it's just natural. I don't see any sense in hurting him. I pen him when he starts jumping on me or the grandkids. Most of the time he is content to stay with the doe. I'm going to sell him once I'm sure she is bred.

Of course he liked it!! You played with him like another goat would play with him...what's not to like?!!

The trick is to do something he won't interpret as normal goat behavior, because if you engage in normal goat behavior with a goat...you will lose. They're way better at it than you are. I got really mad and punched a buck in the forehead once as hard as I possibly could and, as I stood there cradling what I really thought was a broken hand, it was game on and he rared up at me as if to say BRING IT!

I'm 6'1", about 255lbs, and I mean I DRILLED this goat. I've little doubt that such a whack would have knocked a human out cold.. Reason was, he put his head into my lower back and pushed, which could have seriously injured me...so I turned around and hit him without really thinking. He was like

it's playtime!

Try water. Goats really hate water. Take a cup out with you and fill it from their waterer. If he jumps up, dump it on his head. Then refill it. If he jumps up again, dump another cup on his head. Eventually, he'll quit, because goats don't normally dump water on each others' heads and he's not gonna have a CLUE how to interpret that or what to do about it except to leave you alone.

I will definately try the water. May take a bucket at a time though. He's the only goat I have that stands out in the rain. The girls all run inside at the first sight of a sprinkle.

The water dumped on the head sounds like a plan. A spray bottle wouldn't phase him.

I have hope:)

Use water in a spray bottle. Works for us every time to deter our goats from doing something they shouldn't. It doesn't hurt them but makes them stop. They hate getting wet. You don't want to do something to hurt him and escalate the interaction into something ugly.

I will definately try water.

I love my buck and he is registered and from really good lines:)

I can't wait to see his babies in the spring.

I'm very interested in this thread since I'll be getting a buck in a month or two. The friend that I am getting him from used a cattle prod with him. She only had to use it twice. All she has to do is show it to him now and he gives her a wide berth. She told me that the prod is ALWAYS between her and a buck. So, I'll get a cattle prod for him. But, the next one, I'll try water first.
Thanks,
Dale-Ann

Try this, it works for colts that want to nibble, bite or push you around. Get a 9 volt battery and hold it in your hand with the contacts out where they can make contact with the goat. Whenever he tries to jump on you, push it against his lips where they meet in the middle of his mouth (where it will be damp) It bites them a little bit and they will start to respect that you will shock them if they get up close to you. I doesn't take more than just a couple of times with a colt. It may work with a goat.
