I have a question: my chicks are 6 days old and I ran out of pine..all I have is scented pee pads and newspaper til I get to store on Saturday or would a old towel be better?

Is the scent of the pads something to attract puppies to it or is it for human noses? The first should be fine, not sure about the second (depends on the perfume). Newspaper is too slippery. Old towel is great. Paper towels will also work...this is what I use for the first week or so since I can change it frequently, they're relatively cheap (I go through about one roll), and you can see the droppings to evaluate them for abnormalities.

pee pads says fresh scent..ok old towel til I can get to store now Monday..

My understanding is newspaper is not too slippery if it is torn up or shredded, paper towels are also an option. I would not use scented puppy pads because a tiny bird only needs a small exposure to cause issues.
