I have mites.... Help!!!

Please remember, when using permethrin or pyrethrins, this product is TOXIC to CATS. If you have a barn cat, lock her out, and your clothing should be put in the wash and you should shower so as not to spread it indoors to your cat. Other than cats, the product is AWESOME for getting rid of bugs of all kinds! I use horse spray while they are on the roost at night, I get their bums and under the wings. When I clean the coop, i spray all wood surfaces and corners just to be sure.

Edit: Permethrin is the synthetic version of pyrethrin which occurs naturally in chrysanthemum flowers. When using any insecticide around your cat, be sure to check that the product does not contain either of these!

Yeah honestly that terrified me when I read it on the back of the bottle. I only have an inside cat but I washed off my shoes and stripped as soon as I got in the house.
I also watched my cat for a few minutes just to be safe.

Are there any as effective (and cheap) options that aren't poisonous to cats?

Once the permethrin sprayed area fries you don't have to worry so much about it getting on a cat.

Hi guys. So I found out I have mites. I was looking at my latest pic of a chick's scabby wing healing, and spotted a mite!! I am HORRIFIED. Poor chickies must be so itchy...

Any recommendations for threads to read on how to get rid of them? It's a little hard to scrub the coop because it's a tractor. I would have to partially dismantle it... (Not my design... A second hand coop.) So is there anything I can spray to kill the buggers???

I ordered permethrin powder already and am going to see if I can get some DE.

The only thing that worked for us last year and believe me, I did not want to do it. My ladies had almost instant relief. It works.
