I have no idea what I am doing

My duck house is made of pallets. Very simple and the space between boards is great ventilation. Hardware clothed any spaces bigger than an inch and they go in on there own at night. They get locked in at night to keep predators away and are let out with the chickens in run during the day. My mallard is also a diving duck...Lol. She is so funny. She hisses at my Chihuahua. If you get something big enough you can do something like this for water and food...Helps tremendously on keeping brooder clean. It's just a grilling tray on top of a cake tray. The metal tray with holes cost me 1.93 at Walmart. Catches the water they track in bottom instead of in shavings. Mine are in a baby pool but can be done in box too

I've just read all 68 pages of posts and thoroughly enjoyed it! Congrats on your baby! I'm no expert, but couldn't help but think and reminisce on a duckling my son brought home from an Jamaica (carnival). We live on the Mexican border and not sure if they do it other places, but they have ducklings, chicks, and other small animals as prizes on a lot of the games at the carnival. My son came home with a black duckling he had won and when I didn't seem thrilled about it, he said, "but mom, all the other ducklings were fluffy and yellow and this one was black. nobody wanted him, so I had to get him". He turned into a beautiful mallard and followed me all over. It still brings a smile to my face to think of the slap, slap of his feet on the sidewalk following me all over the yard! I hope you have fun with Lucky and look forward to reading more of your adventures!

Evening all. We tried for a little splashing fun but as with everything Lucky does it was way more than I could handle. With only about half an inch of water I held his little feet in it to get him used to it and he wanted out of my hands I put him in and he seemed ok and was splashing a little with his beak so I let him go and he dove head first under the water and zoomed from one side of the Pyrex dish to the other. I grabbed him and let him relax for a min and tried it again and he did the same thing. A bit too much for my taste. Not sure if he wanted to do that or just freaked. My guess is he meant to lol. I can't believe the energy

My call duckling Pippa dived first thing, she loved it but wild type ducks dive MUCH better than domesticated! Fill your bath with water and let him jump in by himself....he will LOVE!!!! it!!! Try it and please video it????? xxx

I just don't think I'm equipped for more ducklings. Just the one is enough for me lol. I just thought it would be easier if They were passed the heating stage. I'm guessing it's a bad idea to keep him alone?

I'd try just one more duckling the same age, if you can find one, for Lucky to bond with. Then later, get another two. So its never more against one.
My ducklings are somewhat spoiled too. yes, we buried a boat. :D
