We had 3 of our chickens separated in a not so sturdy pen. When letting them out a couple weeks ago I dropped a piece of wood on our rooster and now he is limping... He has still been moving quite a bit but when he walks he tucks his toes under and avoids walking flat footed. He is eating and drink and is able to get on the roosting pole but is hopping around basically. We had a Vet friend take a look and she said nothing was broken. I'm afraid there will be permanent damage if he continues walking by tucking his toes under.

Any advice? Do I just give it more time?

If its just a sprain then he should heal up in a few days. Try to avoid letting him do anything like jump down from high perches, just so he doesn't re-injure it.
You could try making a little boot for him to wear, to keep his toes straight.

All and all, if it isn't broken, he should heal soon.

I hope he gets better soon. Best of luck!
