I just set 5-21-11 in my home made incubator

When I was a kid, my dad used to buy turkey eggs and set em under a broody.They hatched just fine and the hens raised em too. I bet you'll have a willing momma... I think it's worth a shot anyway.

Final count 11 out of 12. I think my little dropped egg chick is going to be ok.

My new broody is still setting, although she refuses to stay where I move her and keeps going back to the nest box.

Deciding what to do with her tomorrow I guess.

i ordered Frizzles ) I have been breeding silkies for over a year now so i wanted to try something new!! I am so excited cos her babies are so Beautiful!! We must stay in touch with our eggs and see how they get along!!! I had so much trouble choosing gah all of them are so beautiful!!

ooo, I am picking up some sizzle (frizzle x silkies) eggs tonight! waiting on the rest of my ebay eggs to come and i'll be resetting the bator too.

Had to give my hatch to my friend i was hatching for,

so the house seems real quiet and empty now. Can't wait to get the next batch on as they are for me - RIR and orpington both bantams and a few sizzle and frizzle pekins.

I'm in south Texas and it is generally quite humid here, my LG incubator varies with the room temp & humidity. My opinion on it is...there is a learning curve to hatching...what works best for someone in Maine, may not work for me in Texas...so trial & error I suppose until I get the perfect hatch

It's good to read and research others experiences, but what works for me, may not work for you. Some people get their humidity up to 90 at lockdown...some only 60. I've read where some keep a daily log during incubation, too this may help with figuring out what works and what doesn't. One thing for sure...it is so frustrating when the eggs don't hatch!!

I've been told to keep the humidity between 50-60% for the first 18 days, and then 65-70% for lockdown. Wet bulb temps are approximately:

50% - 83 degrees
60% - 88 degrees
70% - 93 degrees

My little Silver Spangled Hamburg died! It was doing fine, drinking, eating, walking around. I check on the babies throughout the day to make sure they are doing well....don't know why, he was just dead.

That sucks! I'm sorry. Hopefully you get a double handful of fuzzies out of the lav orps you've got goin' now. I'm so heartbroken for you.
