Okay her feet are in saline and after the scabs have softened we will wrap them with neosporin. She is almost white from the DE bath we just gave her and at least all the mites we see now are dead ones. How I wish my leg was longer and my boot bigger so when I kick myself in the behind it will hurt more. Why didn't I check her for mites when she got here????? We just didn't see any and we were so worried about getting her clean, I guess I didn't look hard enough. Why didn't I just start her on Antibiotics???? I hate this, I am so mad at myself. I feel like I am hurting not helping. If she survives it will be by the grace God alone and IN SPITE of me.

Was my math right with the penicillin or does she need more????

How warm should she be? the brooder is 1 foot above her. I don't wan't her to be too warm or too cold. When I put my hand under at her height, it is warm on my skin.

I'm no good with dosages so hopefully someone will be able to help there. I just quit giving my one hen with persistent bumblefoot antibiotics since she'd been through multiple courses of four or five with no results. As far as how warm, just as long as she's not too hot or actually cold, just pleasantly warm, she'll be okay.
You did nothing wrong! You are doing everything to get her back on her feet, so you deserve a pat on the back, not a kick in the seat! This is a challenging case and if she pulls through, it will be because of your efforts. If she doesn't pull through, it wont be because she was left unattended in a cold cage to die overnight covered in her own poop. I'm sure she knows you're trying to help her.

Is she still just laying there or is she moving around some? If she is moving around make sure she can move away from the brooder and she can regulate it herself. If she is not moving I'm not sure either but, I would make it so it felt just warm and watch her.

Oh, the poor thing! Look at her keel/breast bone sticking through her feathers..... you are really doing a wonderful thing taking care of her. AND you did nothing wrong! You are doing great, identifying the problems and finding out how best to treat them. Please don't be hard on yourself. Stay calm and positive: animals can really pick up on that vibe! You're doing a wonderful job.

Poor Tira...I was gonna say don't worry about the Bumblefoot yet...She's got soo much more important things to get through first.
She should be warm enough...I agree with Specks once again...

would staph cause diarrhea?? Or could she be having more than one thing going on? Do I repeat the penicillin injection? and if so when? Can I give Sulmet and Penicillin??

If you're giving Sulmet, I think I'd just stop the penicillin. Two antibiotics may be too much for her system at one time. She does probably have multiple problems, I would say, but her worst one is that her body is too weak to fight things without assistance. Good food, warmth, water and one antibiotic at a time. Later on, deal with the worst part of the bumblefoot. Just soak her feet once a day and rebandage with the antibiotic ointment on the sores for now.
