I Lost My Whole Flock!

OK if you have a fence it may not be workin or it is not low enough to the ground test the fence with a tester also a trick I do if you want to ensure that they stay clear of the fence is to put 4x4 in squares of foil on the fence hace them stick out a bit and put Peanut butter honey or even cat food on em turn on the fence and the predators will lick at it and get a wake up call to avoid the area... Ive even done this to deer...

If you got a gun, set some bait and shot them! watch were you are shooting though!!!!

OK that trap was great. I love the simplicity of the mechanism. Most of my raccoon problems are in the spring when Momma coon kicks out the little ones to fend for themselves. Off to racon heaven with them now. Thanks

Hey, the same thing happened to me over a period of weeks due to a careless pet sitter, my own negligence and finally the raccoons getting brave and hunting before dark (came home to horrible slaughter while it was still daylight). I swore off poultry as many were expensive birds, even heritage breed turkeys.... They were gorgeous and most were just barely laying age. It was the end result of my first experience with poultry and I felt so betrayed by fate! Esp with all the love and care that went into raising them up with my young children. I have hundreds of photos of kids and chickens.... Now that's all we have of the beauties!

But now I'm working on 2 incubators full of eggs and bought a passle of babies from locals and the feed store. I'm back in business with reinforcements in the works: namely electricity and diligence.

Though I've never trapped raccoons, I've been told repeatedly by locals out here in Central Texas, and have read on BYC, that you can never trap them all. They just keep filling in the gaps left by the ones you kill. And definitely don't just cart them off and dump them somewhere else. They will do the same thing to someone else! I figure the population must be very large and well fed to keep such large numbers, even out here where it's relatively dry. I used to think raccoons just like woods and swamps but no more!

Good luck to you! Hang in there....

you wont trap em all but you can make a dent when I first started trappin I had two traps from TSC I set everynight for like a month and got one or two every night or two eventually like 10 days to 2 wks later you would only get a few you have to keep trappin a few nights a month but it rally locally will make a difference...

Well I got A coon yesterday. I wanted to use a rope to open it from a distance, so it wouldn't turn on me. I shot it twice with a shotgun, it didn't die. But later today I saw 2 vultures sircling, so maybe it is dead. I have to figure out how to get a better shot at it.
