I think you should do more research, and be happy with ONE betta. If you cant be happy with one, buy a 10 gallon tank and divide it.
RESEARCH.

I've never had a Betta but I LOVE GUPPIES! Whenever I had tanks in the past, I had guppies and Tetras. Tetras are another awesome little fish. I hope you find a great fish/or a great few fish! They will make you very happy!

Wow, I'm glad I didn't read this thread when my son got his goldfish! I would have skipped it, and he would have been so sad! He loves his "Spiderman" who is going on 4, very active and healthy, lives in a 3 gallon tank that we only clean once a month, with no heater. But then again, I have been known to have an ability to raise the "hard" fish, and KILL the easy ones. Only give me a betta if you want sushi, cuz in 2 days that's what it will be.

I think it really depends on the person and their capabilities, I've always had goldfish, even in the little glass bowls with no filter. I remember getting them from the fair when I was little.

Good luck with your betta!!!! They are so pretty!!! And make sure to post pics!

Im sorry... but 1.5 gallons is not big enough for any fish.. THEY ARE FISH THEY NEED ROOM TO SWIM!!!!! plus a goldfish is not as easy to keep as a tetra (if you get tetra you need 3 for they are school fish) or boy guppy for goldfish are high amonia fish. its funny how you can win them at the fair and sometime they live long lives and sometime they live days. water in that size of tank needs daily water changes and it would be more of a headace then its worth. id take it back and invest in a 10g tank at petco they are having a 1$ per gallon sale going on. (i think its still going on still) but please dont torture a fish and put it in a small tank. im even learning with the livebearers i have 10 gallons isnt enough.
Betta are so pretty.. good luck but again they do better with more room to swim.

edit: sorry didnt read they rest of the comments.. i had a beta in a water lily vace that lived about 4 years before i moved and my mother killed it by putting to hot of water in the vace when she cleaned it.. very fun and just so relaxing to watch swim around. the more i learn the more i really beleave that they need room to swim though..

a 1/2 gallon tank isnt big enough for 1 betta let alone 2..
your 1 1/2 gallon bowl would happily house 1 betta, want to see him show off more get him a mirror and let him see himself once a day.

you obviously havent done your research beyond the whole "betta can live in tiny bowls" part, and its simply not true.
1 gallon PER BETTA is absolute MINIMUM...however 5 gallons per betta is prefered.

Never keep a male and female together, I tried it woke up the next day looked at the tank and the male was totally beat up from the female. There are stories out there of people keeping a pair together and it being happy and fine and some people the complete opposite. Sooo unless you want a a dead betta or two stick with one.
