HeatherLynn-Don't be discouraged, I think what you are making is very cute and I can see from your photos that you take a lot of care to make your things. I have been decorating eggs and I haven't tried to sell them yet-because I'm too nervous about paying a table or booth fee in this economy-so I'm going to wait until I can find a way to sell them that is no or low cost. I have already put so much time and materials cost in them.

I did however, just today-took 36 of my decorated eggs to our churches Mission Mart-I help with a group to raise money for our partner church in Mozambique. I sold 22 at $5.00 each and a set of 4 for $24.00. Even though I donated everything from today-it was encouraging to know that there was some interest-but I could tell that people were being very careful about spending money- as am I. I guess with all this I am saying to have patience to find a place to sell your things-and I hope you have good luck in the future!

I think those things are adorable!

Not a lot of people go to them shows anymore. Have you thought about putting these in a farmer's market? At my local one they have a minimum amount on the type of stuff you have to sell. Mabie someone needs an "extra" product for during the low season on veggies? When i saw them i thought they would make cute ornaments to tie on a purse handle, but i AM a crazy chicken lady..... Idk on the price either. I know supply prices have gone up a lot! You might just have to wait for a big clearance sale and pick up your supplies then; then you could lower your price. or you could sell non-beaded next to the beaded for a lower price. I think a leather chicken with a little fabric wing would look adorable on my purse! You can also hit random yard sales and church sales and pick up really cheap leather coats that are out of style for this! I got one for $3 or less last year i have been eying for a project..... Then you can charge more cause leather costs more, even if you DID find some ripped coat somewhere for a buck

Farm girl I'm on Etsy as Heatherlsmithky and on the BYC auction site if you wanted to see pics.

Red I am so glad you love yours.

I made a couple dozen felt ornaments with no beading and those are going to the nursing home this weekend. I always take baskets of little pretties and treats to hand out when we take our scouts to sing. I did make dollar ones, 3 dollar ones, and 5 dollar ones. The $5 ones are the most time consuming. I do alot more detail and alot more beading on them. The beading is really what take the most time but I just love how much prettier they are with beads. The dollar ones take me probably about 15 minutes to make. Some of the $5 take almost an hour. Like on the graceful duck the cutting is a bit more intricate and then I stitch the quilting on the back, then piece and bead the ornament finished. Its a bit more involved but I do love how they look. I made several for my own tree. I even found a pattern to make pillows that look the same and I plan on beading those. ( its the only way I will ever have a duck inside the house again)

The good news is that I ended up only being down $5. A friend sells tastefully simple. Anywho she wanted to use a corner of my table space and I agreed. She ended up getting 2 parties out of it so she gave me money toward my booth fee. I thought that was very nice.

I did a few craft fairs over the last 2 yrs but I think my stuff is too pricey so this yr I decided not to do any but was asked it I would for no fee. I did, sold 4 items and 1 consignment. so i was happy. now I have stuff in an etsy store to sell and hoping to sell something for christmas. stainedglassbybobbi (all one word)

You can market these somehow as easter basket decorations too! Mabie it's just too tight financially for people cause it's christmas. I think if you at least take the ones you made so far and keep at it it'll take off! I think they are "chic" little designs.

I'll probably take the holiday off from making more, although I have a couple new animals I am working on. The kids made requests for our tree lol. Working on a penguin and a mouse right now. I think the kiddies would like the entire zoo on the tree. I might try to market earlier next year. This was the last show of the year. I missed the others due to my sons crossing over.
