I need opinions ( update It did not go well)

I use to go to these craft show things quite often to try and sell my things. I am an artist and I hardly ever made my money back.
I was doing well until the economy tanked. No mare sales. I stopped going to the shows, set up my home as a gallery. now I have very few sales.
People don't have extra money for do-dads, art, any non necessities.
Very discouraging, but thats just the way it is. So sorry for your dissapointment.

Yeah, I've had the same type of experience, tried to different fairs and basically sold nothing. Sorry you experienced the same. Have you tried selling online? If you've not done so check out Etsy.com alot of artists/crafters sell stuff on that site.

Sell your products on here. There's still plenty of time to get stuff sold and make money for Christmas shopping!!

I'm sorry. You can't control the thing being a dud. You should look into etsy as well since you already have them made and maybe between here and on there you can move them in time for Christmas.
ETA: my daughter saw the owls... how many of them do you have?

I tried to tell ya, my MIL is a great craft artist-----nothing is selling these days that isn't useful.

I dropped in at a local craft show yesterday and it looked really dead. I make and sell various wooden flutes, but haven't had much luck during the recession with craft fairs. I stopped doing any that charge a fee. There are some events that don't charge a fee.

I couldn't believe the low pricing. Towels with hours of crochet to fasten them over rails or knobs were only $5-10. Not much more than the cost of the towel! I don't know how anyone does it. It has been 30 years since I've seen so many folks out digging ginseng or gathering black walnuts. I am now getting flat tires from all the people hauling scrap for the $.

Heather..Please don't feel so down...I was in the same exact boat this year..I do the decorated eggs-my first year I made them for a small craft show at work ( only for in house folks) I sold over 100 at $5 each. I was thrilled and bought extra gifts that year. Last year I sold 40 of them? This year I got talked into an actual huge craft show at the college. Made over 200 ornaments. I had ALOT of folks LOVE them but never bought them:( I sold 22 of them-booth cost $30 so I made my $ back but not enough to be happy about any of it. I rented a huge booth for next year already-the PRIMO booth-split the cost with 2 other gals-$95 total. Hoping to sell alot next year. If it doesnt do well-Im done doing it for sure...too much work and effort for the little amount of $ it brings in:(
I asked all the vendors how they did and they all agreed -terrible. People just aren't spending that kind of money on crafted items this year when there's so many other things they NEED to buy for their families. There was another craft show this weekend at work-I sold 20 jars of canned goods I made and 22 eggs-5$ booth fee...That I was happy with! The rest that didnt get sold go for Xmas gifts:) I took my friends items ( wool mittens with fleece lining $20 a pair)and jingle fleece hats for children $15 each ) to sell for her. I sold 4 pairs of mittens and 3 hats for her-she was happy considering the show she was at didn't go over well. She took 80 of my eggs to sell-she sold 10...meh..Im happy considering I didnt go and she did the work...We decided next year to sell eachothers things so we dont have to kill ourselves to get to every craft show-She is doing 2 large ones as am I..Can you do that next year? I think your stuff is lovely!

My husband is encouraging me to not give up. Just try different things and different venues. I have sold enough to cover my costs online. So for now I am only out my booth cost which was $30. I've posted some up on the BYC auction and putting some on Etsy and see what happens. Worst comes to worst I will put up an extra tree this year to display my new handcrafted ornaments lol.

I only made 1 of the applique owl's.

I have no idea how long it takes to make one of your ornaments or what the material costs are but $5 strikes me as a little high.

Also, don't know if they would go over in your area but felt lapel "flowers" have been popular, a little passe now but who knows...
