After the cut was stuffed with herbs, she limped over to Auburnstar. "Are you okay?" she asked her friend. "This battle was a tough one. We must prepare for another attack. But battle should be avoided if possible. We have to tell Wetstar that we didn't force Emberfoot out. She left because she wanted to, leaving behind her young kits."

Auburnstar had been scratched deep down her belly, organs bleeding. "I'm going to lose a life," she muttered in her agony.
"Give me poppy seeds to ease the pain, if possible."
