Awwwww man!!! I feel sooo bad! That teaches me to never throw any away till day 18...

I did the exact same thing! I felt terrible. My incubator temps had been up and down like crazy so I though the eggs were all dead and couldn't see anything when candling. I broke one open and it had a little beating heart! I felt awful and started crying. So you aren't alone.

Thanks so much GothChick! That makes me feel like I'm not the only one out there that accidentaly got rid of a good egg. At least I have 10 more that look pretty good at this point. Due to candle iin a few days.

That's still exciting then! I didn't have the same luck with my eggs. I started with 24 BCM eggs from two different people and 8 Olive Egger Eggs. I had to throw out all 12 from one set because they didn't develop at all so on day 10 I cracked them open and nothing. Then I killed one of my olive eggers because I thought it was dead but wasn't. Now I am down to 13 eggs left.

I'm close to you in time...I set mine on the 4th......Since my temp's were 100.4 through most of the incubation period my fiance and I are crossing our fingers for some activity on Sunday so we'll be there to see it!

Ooo. Temp spike! That happened to me the first time and I got nothing... Good luck! We are crossing our fingers, too!

A question: Whats the best way to sex chicks? I'm going to sell some and give one to my BFF and keep some, but I can olny keep hens and my friend can only keep hens, too, so whats the best way to tell?

You should still get chicks even with the high temp. I've had hatches at 103 before. You'll find that chicken embryos are very hardy.

I put in 10 mixed breed bantam eggs last weekend on around the 8th. I'd have to check the calender to be sure. I also put 20 button and 20 coturnix quail eggs in yesterday, so they should hatch around the time of your chicken eggs.

I never remove any eggs until about week after the hatch date. I'm always too uncertain of my candling ability to throw any away. It always drives me insane when I consider how many good eggs I may have thrown away.

Guess we're hatching buddies!!

I dropped an egg last night when I was turning. It had a baby inside and it died while I was standing there. It looked so helpless and scared.

I feel terrible!!
