That's too many birds to lose and not know why.Not yet, I know I've had various issues. Many don't resemble each other at all. I'm not really sure how to go about that. I usually give Corid to every new batch of babies at some point bc they show signs of cocci. And by resistance I mean the ones that have survived have resisted it. Currently I have a year old brahma that's limping(about 2 months now) and a Silkie that I'm thinking has cancer bc of a growth on her side. I've lost about 15 birds in the past year.
Is it expensive? Or is it a free service? That's too many birds to lose and not know why.
Here's a list of all the state poultry labs. Call yours and ask how they want the bird shipped. Most will give you a FedEx label for shipping. I line a small bix with Styrofoam board and add a freezer pack. When the bird dies, refrigerate till you ship it. Don't freeze it. Also, if you medicate, let the lab know what you used cause some meds can skew the test results.

Thank you for the info, I ordered15 silkie chicks and they are 4 day old and 1 arrived bead and I have lost total of 5 chicks as of this morning. I just noticed the blood in the poo today. How old are they now? If they have bloody poop you need to go to the store and get them some amprolium (Corid, Amprol, AmproMed, etc.). Be sure to check the chicken and cattle section. Corid for cattle is okay to use in chickens.
Powder dose is no less than 1.5 teaspoons per gallon for 5 days, then 1/3 teaspoon per gallon for 7-14 days. If using a quart, use 1/2 teaspoon for 5 days, then 1/8 teaspoon for 7-14 days.
Liquid dose is 2 teaspoons per gallon for 5 days, then 1/2 teaspoon per gallon for 7-14 days. If using a quart, use 1/2 teaspoon for 5 days, then 1/8 teaspoon for 7-14 days.
Let us know if you get the powder or liquid.

So sorry to hear that. I don't know much chicks but I hope they overcome. When my chicks came in, one immediately died. Before it died it had weird seizure movements, and couldn't stand up. Now another chick is doing it. Her legs are shaking and she can't stand up. Is it some type of disease? I did notice one pile of red diarrhea. And the rest of the poop is green. They are only 3 days old. HELP!
Every state is different. Some are free, some pricey, you'll have to call and ask.Is it expensive? Or is it a free service?

NO. As I said, you can't give vitamins while dosing Corid. Amprolium works by depriving the protozoa of thiamin. Can I add the Nutra drench into the Corid mix?
What do you think of the droppings in the photos? @ChickenCanoeEvery state is different. Some are free, some pricey, you'll have to call and ask.
It usually costs me about 100 for complete workup but there are less expensive options.
Dose with Corid now
