I think some of my birds have been found!!!

I seriously wonder how some people who get carried away 'saving the world' through their experience watching Animal Planet really think animals live in the wild.

I have only stolen two animals in my life that were being abused (a box turtle in a tiny plexi-glass "small world" container and a golden retriever with an infected chest wound - I took him to the vet then back to his owner with his medication).

I hope that she gets the rest back. It's supposed to be down in the teens around New Years and I'm afraid they'll get too cold being outside!

The police can definitely check the parrot rescue's phone records, to get a number. Make sure you talk to your friend and have her write down what time of day that call came in, while she still remembers.

I'm glad you got some of the birds back. I hope they catch who did this. Even if there's no conviction, at least there will be a record and it might help the next time she does something like this. She might not target you again, but I'm sure there will be a next time for her.

I think she took them all and found out they took more room than she had and had to get rid of some. I'm so glad you got some back.

Get the phone info and really let her have it.

I live in a little island of county right in the middle of the city. Our neighbors at the top of the lane, raise prize calves for show. The people across the street in the condos called animal control on them for abuse because the calves where crying. Animal control shows up and they tell them the calves have just been weined. Duh of course they are going to cry. The animal control just said oh, and left. Being a past stupid city person I can say, "Stupid City people!!" Those are the most spoiled calves I've ever met. He cooks up special food for them etc. Shoot, the sell for $5000 when he gets a good one. You bet they are well cared for.

There is a story that went 'round the horse lists some years ago about a person with draft horses in New England. It's winter, you understand, and snowing. Animal control drives up, gets out of car, looks at horses in pasture in snow, bursts out laughing. Apparently someone had seen the steam rising off their snow-dampened backs and called in a panic to say that the horses were on fire

I am so glad you got at least some of your birds back, I think that;s pretty surprising and unusual. Maybe the others will turn up later too. Good luck,

Pat

Speaking of horses on fire/actually steam...in my town we have a small dairy herd. They used to be out in the field most of the time, though there was a covered enclosure for them if they wanted it! Someone (I believer from PETA) contacted the newpaper, made a big stink about the abused cows, because of all the fuss, the cows are almost alway stuck in the barn. As far as I am concerned that is abuse!!! Now they get no exercise!!! Last year the farmer started letting a "few" out at a time so they could get some fresh air, but no longer is the herd out at any given time. ABSOLUTE SILLINESS!!
