Just realized this for about the seventh time TODAY. Everything is so technology related anymore, and nothing's simple. Wish I could go back into the 30's and 40's and do what I love without worrying about money, construction/carpentry.

It's still possible. There are expats out here who live in remote villages with no internet and no cell 'phone signal. They do old fashioned things like meet their friends every few days and exchange information from the outside world. Construction out in the sticks is simple - materials and labour are easily at hand. Planning permission for a house is easy to get and you can add and modify as you wish.

It's a bit to basic for me though.

Atleast we have the option to not use all that stuff. I could totally do without many of the things we use. I lived with my granny when she had an outhouse, wood burner, and we washed cloths the old way. It was doable and a rather peaceful time. I doubt my dh could do without his tech stuff. My kids might whine as well.

so true mattemma we have the option not to use any electronics/modern amenidties! (sorry its early spelling its off )

I like the time of the 1800's!!! I would love to go and vistit (time travel)!
