Had to turn mine again so, YES I CANDLED ALL OF MY EGGS.... ugh! I'am weak, I admit it!
I candle mine with a blanket over my head covering the incubator so as to limit the temp change. I do not pick them up either, with my maglite I can quickly and easily see lots of movement in each egg. Even my 12 paint eggs are showing development and it's only 3 days!

I too must find a way to gain control. In fact, as I sit here reading about candling, it reminds me that I would really like to go candle again. I think I will. No, I won't. Yes. No.. I'll just go sneak a peak and NOT candle.

Oh...I forgot to confess....

I candle every other day. OK, here's how i justify it. The hen gets off the nest once a day for at least 20 minutes, right? It only takes me 5 minuted to candle

Plus, Pete tells me that a 20 minute cool down aids in weight loss and makes a hardier chick. So I use it to my advantage to take a quick peek

Sounds like our kids think alike! I want some showgirl eggs! Where did you get yours? I did give my husband a "slight" hint last night that there would be more eggs in the incubator. I told him to ask his dad if I could keep the generator for the next hatch too, just in case. That was my hint, that's all he's getting!!!

I got them from SilkieSue, I think here on BYC. The only other place I look is ebay. I'm so bad about the auctions that I have an ebay app on my iphone so I can check my bids after I go to bed

I hate to lose. I spend almost as much time watching auctions as I do watching my 2 week old chicks and the bator. This is consuming most of my day, everyday. But, I love it....

Oh....the eggs I got from SilkieSue, out of 14 eggs, 10 are growing

The 1st clutch I candled pretty much every day and hatched 6 out of 13, for the 2nd clutch I candled only 4 times and hatched 1 out of 14. okay they were all shipped eggs from different sources and different times of the year - so I doubt there's a direct corrolation. This time I've candled only 4 times - so we'll see if that makes a difference or not. I just love watching them develop in the shell - it's such a cool amazing process.

You will have to keep me informed on them! I have only bought eggs this one time. . . .but I feel a new addiction coming on!! I have been looking at them on ebay, but luckily my bator is booked solid for the next hatch! I did request another incubator for christmas from my mother, shhhhh don't tell my DH, he has NO idea!!
