IA here

The new Iowa blue flock is settling in and already starting to look to me for treats. Some of them are crazy wild though, I may have to do a little selection for temperment

They gave me 9 eggs on their first day home and I set them in the freshly cleaned Genesis with 13 turkey eggs, the last eggs of my murdered flock and the remaining hen and 6 from some BBS Ameraucana pullets that have been living with Boss Blue in the breeding pen.

I must have missed it - where did you get the new Iowa Blues? I am glad that they are working out for you so far. My particular roo is not mean nor is he nice. My biggest issue with him since I live in the city is his tendancy to crow EVERY TIME I walk out the door. He must see me as a threat to his flock. The two girls will come up to me for treats.

I moved the mama hen and her chicks into the coop from her secret nest. We have been getting so much rain that it was starting to soak into her pile of dry leaves and I didn't want the babies to get chilled from being damp. The other hens had discovered her hiding place anyway since I was putting a stash of food next to her. They are fine with the chicks and no one bothers them. In fact my silkie rooster was just left in charge of baby sitting in the coop while mom went out to stretch.

When my roosters do that, I just tell them to not be so excited to see me! Those little tiny eggs I have been getting are fertile! They must be coming from the Pyncheon looking bird. I saw the Buttercup cockerel umm, umm, well you know. That ought be an interesting chick!

I Do not need more chicks. I do not need more chicks.

My goat neighbor keeps trying to send a turkey home with me and not a nice plump frozen 1 either its a nasty guy who thinks he is big and bad. I keep telling him when he's plucked and dressed i'll take him.
so today he set a bunch of eggs including some turkey that he thinks i'll take some of lmao oh no if in chick form i might.
I do not need more chicks. except a few of yours steph. lmao

Hi, everyone.

Popping in to remind everyone about the recognition awards.

We want to validate the efforts and contributions of our members who give sooo much. This community is special because of the efforts of its members, and we all want to honor that.

NOW: get to nominating, if you haven't already!

Remember, each BYC member may nominate one member each month for each of the three recognition categories: BYC Friend, BYC Educator, and BYC Spirit. That's three nominations each month, and we want to see more submissions!

Use the Nomination Submission Form to make your suggestions.

Thanks!

Tornado ripped across Alabama late this afternoon. I am concerned/worried about the woman I sold a pair of Columbians to this spring. She lives in a suburb of Birmingham Alabama that was right in tornado's path. Tried to email and call her cell phone. No contact yet. She is in my thoughts and prayers tonight.
