Sweet, buy I'm from below the Mason/Dixon line. And you don't add sugar when it's cold. That doesn't cut it. You have to add the sugar when the base is hot. Then add cold water and stick the pitcher in the fridge.
Around here, we all need an IV line from the tea pitcher to our arms, It sure would make it easier. For the five of us, I make 2-3 gallons of Luizianne tea a day. Sometimes I add 5 bags of Luzianne to 3 bags of Rasberry. And one cup of sugar which is mild. It was almost 2 cups when I was younger. LOL

Unsweetened, with lemon or mint.

I haven't read this whole thread, all I can say is I've had 'sweet tea' down south and I truly don't know how anyone can drink it. It is just too sweet!!!

I also brew my own iced tea from good organic black tea leaves. I've recently had a nice glass of iced oolong, it was very interesting! Of course PC knows I'm a tea snob

Sweet...not that anyone around here is willing to drink it if I say I made it!!! I tried after reading this thread...and my daughter trying to be super nice was like.."yumm mom, its great!" my two year old meanwhile begins to whine and says YUCKY he then ran into the kitchen and attemped to spit the iced tea in the sink, which he missed since he is too short to reach. My daughter burst out laughing. I Finally said...that bad ehh...I dumped the whole pitcher. I followed a recipe in my cookbook. 4 cups water 6 tea bags, 1 cup sugar, let stand 10 minutes and then add 4 cups cold water after removing tea bags...hmm store bought it will be from here on :-/

Sweet - definitely has to have sugar added when it is hot - not after it's already cold, just doesn't cut it....

I boil my water, set it off the burner, add 6 family sized tea bags. Split that between 2 gallon jugs ( 1 cup sugar plus a little more in each ), then keep rinsing the tea bags ( filling the pot ) until both jugs are full. Lasts my family maybe 2 days.

1/2 tea 1/2 lemonade is called an "Arnold Palmer" around here.....Charlotte, NC
