Where is everyone this evening?
Java pullet, Krystal, is still trying to be broody....I came in from chores tonight and tell DH about her...he says, "Just give her some eggs if she wants to hatch some, you've got plenty."
I say, "But what if it gets cold again? We can't be done with winter yet."
DH says, "Well, it will be up to her, she'll have to keep them warm if it gets cold."
Where is my real hubby? He would never tell me to hatch chicks..........would he?!
He doesn't eat eggs so I know the chickens haven't been sneaking mind altering drugs into him........unless they've
found another way to do that I don't know about......maybe I should just leave well enough alone and not question
his lapse of judgement....how many do you think she could keep warm if the temps get below 15-20 degrees...she's
bigger than the Icelandic pullets, but not as big as Chickie Mama....Anna and Asta hatched and raised 11 and 10...but
that was summer....I'm thinking six would be good.......they may not all hatch........if they do, they could all fit under
her......what am I saying........it's February 2nd in Northern Illinois.........I must be losing it....maybe I got the mind
altering drugs in the eggs......I know none of you will try and talk any sense into me.......been there.....you didn't do it
then.......not holding out any hope you'll do it now.....yeah...six sounds about right.......

No, she is not broody.......just caught her on the nest laying.....that's my girl!!! (and I'm pretty sure I know which egg is hers so maybe Krystal will get it tomorrow......with 5 others!)
