i don't think the other 5 will hatch. there hasn't been any movement that i could see. will double check when i get home tonight. will try and get more pics of them tonight.
have a great day....its back to the grindstone for me.

Congrats on the babies! I'll have to get my Icelandics penned up for the Easter Hatch. I have my Wool Farm rooster and a bunch of Kathyinmo and NotAFarm Mary hens to put him with.

My boy has a lot of mottling so I'm hoping for some more of those. Next time I really need to select against straight combs though. All my roosters but the boy that hatched with funny feathers have a straight comb and I feel bad for them in this cold. My funny feathered boy did molt out of his curly feathers but he's a tiny thing and I think it's best to stay away from it anyway. He's a real sweetheart though so I couldn't cull him

Congrats on the babies!

For those of you that have unhatched eggs, be sure to candle them and see if they pipped the internal membrane. From someone that opened an egg with a live chick in it, it's not a fun experience. So.................be careful.

Well I have 6 healthy chicks that were from (Mary) NotAFarm's beautiful flock! I truly wish all of them would have hatched...but extremely thankful for my little peeps that did!!! I got home late today from work so I really didn't do a photo shoot like Kathy or The Sheriff would have done. Maybe I can do that this weekend. I was able to take a couple quick ones with the cell that I will load on the laptop at work and post tomorrow morning. The majority have the "chipmunk" pattern with the eyeliner and stripes down their back (to some degree) some are darker than the other and some way lighter. I do know the 1st hatched and the last hatched (I helped it) are the lightest of the group. One has a reddish/auburn coloring that should look very cool if it stays that way. Overall a very unique and colorful assortment...like y'all have said you never know what you will end up with. I do have a theory and want your opinion of it....the chicks that developed crests....did they have a black dot right behind their comb? From looking at recent baby pics I noticed that but y'all would be able to tell me from experience. If it is the case....the I should have one because it has a prominent black dot

I originally set 7 Icelandic eggs for the NYE hatch, 6 made it to lockdown.  My first 5 eggs to hatch, 4 were Icee's.  I still have 2 I'm waiting on.

I've pulled the first wave of chicks (11 babies were running around on top of their slower siblings) from the incubator, I'll post a picture soon.

What was the final tally for you? Still waiting on the pics too...
