Thanks for adding the link and last name. The system seems fine.Ussery, sorry, edited to add source. Is this not a good system?
If you need snow to shovel you can have mine. Actually 6 inches of powder is not a problem but the "pretty" wears off fast when traffic over the powder compresses it to ICE.
It was -9F this morning and is currently 15F. I got 7 eggs today, 6 Icelandics and one German New Hampshire. Gotta love 'em!!
And we're more than happy to take any unwanted snow. We need it in our reservoirs. Well, I'm happy, anyway. Can't say that my neighbors will be.Yes, Trouble is the one that attempted to take the tractor to town. I do not use artificial light and am getting eggs, less than normal. It could mainly be the pullets laying though.30* here! Where's my sunscreen? And we're more than happy to take any unwanted snow. We need it in our reservoirs. Well, I'm happy, anyway. Hey, is Trouble the same hen that tried to commandeer the tractor a few months back? Hahaha.
Who here uses NO artificial light on their hens through winter, and still gets eggs? Just curious.
Nope, not a lousy chicken keeper, each flock is different......but those dogs are probably not helping. Stress will make a difference in quantity of eggs. What do your nests look like? Are they close to where the dogs are?HmmI think I am a lousy chicken keeper, then. None of my girls have laid in months, not even my BR or my Wyandottes. I want to move their pen to a different spot. The neighbors have a nasty dog right there that's always barking and trying to get through the fence. I'm hoping they'll lay again without that stress. I miss my little torpedo eggs.![]()
