Icelandic Chickens

They look so cute, even if they are messy!

They survived the night! I went out at about 10:00 p.m. and swapped the red party light for a heat lamp on a dimmer. Much cozier for such little babies.

Next time we put in a fence, I should call a professional. Yours looks so nice, and the little fences I've put in for the chickens are ugly, crooked, straggling things.

Does your fence guy do any work outside of your area?

You don't want my guy working at your place. He was really nice and easy to work with at the beginning but displayed a bad temper by the time he finished the barn, fence and equine shelter. He bid the jobs so he was getting paid what he asked but wow he became real scary. Find a fence guy and I'll be happy to provide pictures.

Remember Tiny Dancer? She is still with us and thriving! She still twirls if frightened but is normal for the most part. I think she's a girl but I am open to comments. Here she is with her roommate who hatched the day before her. I think the roommate is a boy.

And if you hatch a bunch of blonde Icelandics, take heart. This was a totally blonde chick at hatch! Now it is getting in blue, brown and orange feathers.
