This is one from Kathy's eggs, we've named her Gæla (Guy-la) which means To Pet or Cuddle. She is very serious about being a lap-chicken. If you're within range she will fly onto you and climb to your arm or shoulder.

Oh, I have had nine chicks hatch from the batch in Kelly's incubator and two more trying. I am not sure what my hatch rate was but with my lousy temp management and forgetting to turn them, I am surprised and delighted to have any. Plus they are really nice colors! I had an egg in there from Lukka and I have been so hoping it made it. I am going to keep it because we lost our Lukka Look-a-like in the predator raid the other night. BTW, the vet came out to see Jack yesterday and I pointed out the feather path to him. He says it was a cat. We do have bobcats here.

Here's the chick from Lukka's egg. I think she is going to look like her Momma! She's not fluffed up quite yet!

Mary your pic of Lukka and the chick is one of my favorite of your pics. THAT is the quintessential Icelandic Mama !!

We had a badly needed rain early this morn, it filled all the stock tanks that I have been watering out of, life is good!

And with Icelandics it is better !!

Laree that he does tells us he understands what is going on, a storm like that would have me awake too and I have been through typhoons , he will get it in stride, he's from good stock.

Laree........Glad Icelandics (and hopefully your others) are making it in the heat. And holy crap, I've never seen anything like that storm! Makes me so happy I don't live in tornado alley!

Lookee what I came home to. Briet decided to give me a homecoming gift - 3 beautiful little white eggs and my girls are not even 5 months yet.
