It is an undesirable trait but there shouldent be anything wrong with having it in the laying flock. Just make sure nothing hatches from it.

Here is a link to some research. Ignore that it says it is about goats. That is lower on the page. There is specific reference to the viability of birds with the fray gene.

I dunno. What I do know is that this chick just is not growing. She is the same size she was 2 weeks ago. I don't know how she keeps on going.
