Icelandic Chickens

For the egg song singing rooster... I have always had the luxury to get rid of the ones that have done the same thing on my yard. It is very annoying and I can't imagine how that's supposed to be proper behavior for a rooster who's supposed to be protecting his ladies, not pronoucing to the world that she's in a vulnerable state and laying an egg.

Anywho, I know you don't have the option I had, but maybe he'll grow out of it. I did have a marans that was doing that and he eventually quit doing it so much, so maybe there's hope for you and Isi.

We had to have a wing clipping party down at the grow out pen last night. The juveniles were escaping into the neighboring pens and annoying the Mama's with babies. All day I had to go down and put them back where they belong. Today, everybody stayed in the correct pen! They are going without heat tonight for the first time. They range in age from almost six weeks old to ten weeks so they should be just find. The coop is enclosed and they snuggle in two nest boxes. There are 14 of them for warmth! The low tonight is 56 degrees and it has been in the eighties all day. It should be ok, right?
