Icelandic Chickens

One of these days I'm going to take the area where I have two pens and make four larger ones.

I've got the chicken addiction... bad.

So Mary you are driving some eggs to the PO Tomorrow or Wednesday?

I drove 2 dozen to the PO today. But I am nervous about the fertility rate as the last few I have sent out haven't done well. I hope you don't get disappointed. I am wondering if the decline in fertility has to do with Isi molting. I read that they may mate less when molting. I just hate disappointing people when I am so enthusiastic about these birds. I am hoping for the best but suspect the worst.

Sure. But let me make sure they are still laying and fertility rates have improved. I hope Santa brings you a coop!

Oh what beautiful babies are being hatched!! I wish my icee's were doing that right now. But here in the cold frigid north the girls have closed the production line down for the winter. Sigh I hope next year I will be able to hatch out some beauties!!

This post will be pic heavy but I just couldn't resist.

I was just sitting in my office enjoying the morning when I noticed my four friendly babies and Lukka's "baby" playing together.

They had figured out that if they fly up to the broody coop, from there they can get to the top of the baby coop.

Once up there, they realized getting back down was a whole nutha story.

This little guy almost learned the lesson of "there's no turning back." But he held on to get back to the top.

From that point on, they slid down the roof, one by one.

He took the easy way out.

And flew down. They are all napping in the sunshine now.
