Kathy,
The black and whte birds are so cute. They remind me of penguins. And in that last pic, the second from the left has some beautiful coloring!

Guess what i got today!!!!! 4 icelandic chickies!

Two are yellow and two are blackish kinda blue...had them all seperated in their own little carrier to come home...informed the boys to be real careful and such...pull up at my friends house to get the low down on feeding for the weekend...check on chicks and someone let the cover come off the transportation box!

Now i get to wait and figure out which ones they are. Should have more to report on tomorrow!!!! This time I am taking the zip-ties with me to mark them...anyone need two boys that don't follow directions?

Kathy, I am amazed that not one of my five Icelandics resemble any of yours.

The genes for these guys are unbelievable!

Hi guys. Sorry I haven't been on much the last couple of days. Today was hair dye day and that cannot be missed. We finally got a pretty nice day and I roamed the farm with my camera snapping pictures like a crazy woman. I studied my Icelandics, especially the rock dwellers and realized that out of 19 only four, maybe five are roos. Three of the boys look a lot alike, pretty dark colors. The girls are a lovely assortment. As the sun was setting I walked to the top corner of our property and took this shot down to the farthest corner. You can see the house, barn, and donkey shelter. I so love living here and giving my Icelandics the chance to be Vikings again on this beautiful land.

And my bantams and layers can enjoy their big covered yard.

And Stella, despite her wings being clipped yesterday can go anywhere she wants, including the front yard which is fenced off. I ask you, "how am I gonna' keep her down on the farm, after she's seen Paree?"

Hope everyone else has as wonderful a day as we did.

Hey Kathy

is it Oscars time?? Half are wearing tuxedos!!

Looks like there is an interesting assortment of the combs too. How old are these?

Beautiful place Mary, thanks for sharing.

Woohoo!! I candled my 8 eggs from NotAFarm this morning. 5 are going strong with uber-veining.
1 has a detached air cell so that leaves 2 who are not developing.

My 1st set from Mary last summer was 6 eggs, 3 developed and hatched.

Those are pretty good odds for shipped eggs. Mary's eggs traveled from the West Coast all the way here to VA. Thats a haul for eggs!

Wondering if those of you who have received eggs in the mail are also finding above average rates also?

I have 21 out of 24 developing although a few aircells are *ahem* irregular. They still seem to be keeping pace with their siblings.

ETA: These eggs shipped from No California to South Central Alaska, so that too is a fair piece. Mary did an excellent job packing them and the postal gods smiled on them

The box didn't look like a soccer ball when it arrived.
