Icelandic Chickens

I wonder if Louie, AKA Mary Catherine, will have a complex now. I mean, gosh, a sex change - - - errrrr, name change, part way through life can be traumatic. Have you looked for a vet specializing in psychiatry in your area yet?

Lost a pullet to the heat today.

Put a new AC unit into the coop that should work better..

I don't think I'll lose anymore now.

I can relate to Arizona weather. We have yet another 10 day forecast of 100 degree weather. 94 is the lowest "high." We are under a "heat advisory." Our heat is accompanied by humidity. I was sweating like crazy by 10AM. Hate this weather..... one reason I was never interested in moving to Arizona, where my Aunt and cousins live.

Arizona is balmy, nice weather, I like it, but I am used to the weather in Israel, :frowin the Arava. You never see sweat there, just a salt rime on your clothing.

However, I am going to a colder version of where I am at now, to NE WA, not real far from Idaho Falls, at least compared to now, elevation just over 5,000 ', so, I will be anxiously wating for spring. That is where the Icelandics get their real proving of their ability to range. They will be cooped at night of course.

Anyhow, its nostalgic to think of temps above 95, homey.

FWIW, having low normal blood pressure is a major aid in this, hot is no place for folks with high BP.

This morning had 3 of the 5 week old roos crowing/chirping, doing their best, which set Blau off, he is still calling challenges to them. Its funny but, this week the little guys learn not to do it in front of the Alpha roo.

Life does have its interesting days.

I am geographically challenged so I had to look at a map to see how NE WA and Idaho Falls could be "not real far" apart.

Stay in school kids! It is always nice to have something to look forward to and a move to where you want to be is certainly that! Congrats!
