Are these from your original breeders or from eggs hatched from Mary?

I love how this looks like the back of a girl with long hair wearing a fancy hat!! Gorgeous!!

I am pretty sure that Isi sired some of mine from the first of June hatch, as I have several that look like him, one is a clone of Isi Isison. But then I have five very dark earth colored ones with dark tails, red spashes on the backs, from gold to deep orange capes and white tufts at the base of their tails, Bjorn is the biggest and prettiest of them he was the largest of his hatch right along. They are all also quite leggy and upstanding, I will try to get some pics uploaded of them this weekend.

They dont show any of Blaus blue but complement him very well. As near as I can figure the five are Black Brested Gold Duckwings with the gold on the wings mixed with brown, where Blau has blue these have almost black on the breast and belly without his spashes of gold overal. Bjorn is a bit more upstanding then Blau, so a nice complement and he is very growthy, so is the Isi clone who is going to Boise.

Life is good and better with Icelandic Chickens and Pack Goats !

Well, I still feel like I'm living in a nightmare.

It's just not the same without my Icelandics and without Geoffrey my BWA roo. I mourn every time I walk into the back yard.

The neighbors signed the affidavit so I can keep 20 hens and they both said they didn't mind the roos, but sometimes in the heat of the summer they get stinky and the wind blows the stink over the wall. They also hate all of the birds that my feeding the chickens brings so I'm going to get a treadle feeder and feed exclusively inside.

Boston has committed to have a separate Icelandic pen in his barn in Heber so that makes me happy.

I guess from now on when I replace older hens I'll just have to order female chicks and use Laree's brooder.

I did keep one black tufted Icelandic hen, we couldn't catch her when Boston came so I finally caught her and put her in the coop... she is my last little bit of happy memory that I have left.

it doesn't take long to do chores now.

I am so sorry but glad you get to keep your girls. At least your neighbors were open and honest with you and you are making accommodations to avoid those issues. You could have gotten a real butt head who refused to sign. I guess I am looking for a silver lining.
Please stay on this thread even though you don't have all your Icelandics. We would miss you too much if you were to leave. I will be thinking about you.

Mary

My kids were watching Bizarre Foods

last night and the episode was on Iceland. I watched it, and kept looking for the chickens. While they showed the horses and sheep they only mentioned chickens when talking about the fact that they feed the scraps to the chickens.

Not a single chicken was shown.
