Yep, chickens are a major responsibility and not a “pet of the week”. They function better on a schedule and are time consuming, but rewarding, animals.
I think if I can raise children I can handle chickens. We all had to learn at some point. I will take all the advice I can right now.
 
One thing that helps is when more stores follow the example of our local TSC and put up signs to state that chicks are not Easter presents. And they don't allow anyone under 18 to buy chicks. Lastly, they screen your address to make sure chickens are even legal where you live.

You say that now, but plenty of people just dump chickens when it gets too time consuming or the chicks or chickens get sick and die.

A) I'm almost 30.
B) already checked city codes and following them except they force us to buy 6 and allowed 3.
C) not Easter pets. Since we moved to the country we've wanted chickens and just looking for advice.
