If u could only have 2 hens for eggs what would u choose?

I have White, Buff, Partridge and Barred Rocks, RIRs, a Leghorn and a Black Jersey Giant. The White Rocks are always good layers and very friendly. They DO tend to get broody, though. I'm not crazy about my RIRs, but I only have two so it may just be mine that aren't so friendly.

I have absolutely fallen in love with my Black Jersey Giant and will be getting a few more in the spring. My Buff and Partridge Rocks are not particularly friendly.
My wish list for the spring includes Buff Orps and Delawares. I've never had them but everyone who has them says they are awesome!

My favorite of my flock of Reds, Wyandottes, Barred Rocks, One Ameracuna and Buff Orpingtons is the Orpingtons. Very calm and friendly. Very good egg layers. Pam the Ameracuna is standoffish but the green eggs are a great source of wonder to all. Good luck with your flock.

I have a variation of egg laying chickens. 1 BR, 1 SLW, 3 california whites, and 1 white rock all about 6.5 months. The best layer is the california whites, every morning I have 3 white eggs from them. The BR and SLW are good about 5 a week per chicken. The White rock was slow to start and lays about 4 a week. The little surprise that I had today was a little blue egg from 1 of the little EE that are 4.5 months old. I wasn't expecting them to lay until after the first of the year with the shortened days. I do have another EE and BO that are 3 months old. The little BO is the friendliest little thing. I am hoping that she will stay that way too. When I take the treats out to them, she will get out and follow me around while I finish my chores. I would go with the BO anyday if they would be anything like her.
