If you could only have two breeds, what would they be?

Pre-ordered my two breeds last month for next spring - Black and Blue Ameraucanas and Black and Blue Copper Marans

. Can't wait, tho' I will miss my current mixed flock when I switch everyone out next year.

Black Copper Marans and Partridge Rocks. I favor the BCM for eggs and meat and the rocks for its calmness, I choose the partridge color because it is just so beautiful.

Just two? That's hard...

Ok, I would probably say Cochin and Rhode Island Reds. My Cochin rooster is my baby and my RIR hen is the sweetest and most lovable thing! She is also my baby girl

I would have to say Buff Orpingtons and EEs. My Buffs are very curious and like the attention. The EEs have a cool personality kinda kooky. Tame but with a slight screw loose. Not so much to make them batty just enough to make them unique.

YIKES! I love each of my 5 girls!

If I had to choose...hmmmm.... well gotta have a Barred Rock--my Beatrice is a great layer and such a social gal. Gosh, I think our EE Agnes is so adorable and funny. BUT WAIT--I love our Speckled Sussex girls so much, and oh--the eye candy--our goofy BLRW with the wicked cross beak--ahhh!! I can't handle the pressure anymore

Hi All!
I agree,it would be hard to chose just 2 breeds. Why couldn't the question said 3 or even 4?
I have EEs and I really like them. One of the girl's egg has more of a green tint than the others and is a poor layer but oh what flavor that egg has.
My Marans have just started laying but I would have to say the Marans for my second breed because their egg color is fascinating.
I'm a color nut and although I really do like other breeds too I would be bored by some of the breeds limited color.

At least they gave you 2 instead of just 1. Imagine trying to split your choice again

We had to make the decision to cut down to 2 breeds also and we choose Orpingtons (Buff and BBS) and Ameraucanas (Wheaten and Blue Wheaten).
