If you want to be respected as an adult.... (Warning: Rant enclosed)

Wow, it has been twenty-something years,since I read, as an Early Childhood student (Living, Loving, Learning, I think was the title--not a textbook, but a brilliant teacher used it as one for education students) but I think that was the type of thing that Leo Buscaglia advocated. Did you ever read him? I need to find that book.

And as for the original poster, [OMG, that's what people mean by OP--Eureka!] Of course you were right! And you have the maturity to realize it, and the wisdom to keep it to yourself. You'll do well!

Some people have to get in the last word,and it HAS to be their belief.I just smile and let it goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I found many schooling situations to be very lame on a day to day basis(public,college,and my 2 years in a lanuage school in Europe).Lame,but still interesting at times. I have noticed my children complain about their school daily,but when I ask they still want to go.

I agree that you have a right to complain and not have someone lecture you. I let the kids vent now without saying,"Why do you go if you hate it so much?!?!?"

I loved/love school! I can't imagine anyone finding it monotonous for even a minute!

Maybe your TA was trying to get you to see it from a different perspective, not disagree with you.

Yeah I’d have to say school can really be monotonous at times. And the fact that I have learning disabilities does not help lol. It is very hard for me to stay interested on what we are learning when it feels like the same thing over and over again and when I continuously have trouble understanding that topic I get really frustrated. I find that what really helps me in school is all my friends. They make school more fun and really help me with my school work as each one often tutors me in different subjects. Without them and all their patients and understanding I would have been a lost cause a long time ago lol.

Sometimes LIFE is monotonous. I think part of the problem is with connotations of the word. "Monotonous" does not mean boring or dull, but several here have assumed that that is what the OP meant, yet she clearly stated what she meant, and that it was not "boring" or "dull." Several times she has monotonously

repeated her accurate definition as "repetitious." I'm guessing that the teacher's aide may have had the same notion and misunderstanding. Congrats to Eenie on having an excellent understanding of language. But you might want to consider a bit of work on communication, where word connotations are as important as their denotations.

One more thought: are your assignments sufficiently challenging? Sometimes the framework seems to take on more importance when there is not sufficient content.

Reminds me of an anecdote of when a mom realized that her little boy wasn't planning to go to school that morning...

* * *
"What in the world are you doing?” she said to him. “The school bus will be here any minute.”

“I’m quitting school,” he said, looking her straight in the eye.

“You can’t quit school,” she replied. “You’re only in first grade. Why do you want to quit?”

“Well, it’s too long, too hard and too boring,” he said.

“Son, that’s life,” said Patsy. “Get on the bus.”

* * *

And I would agree. But like Sonoran Silkies said, if your assignments aren't sufficiently challenging to keep your attention, you might want to ask for a variation in your schedule. Hang in there!

Quite frankly, the patience you invest in your education now will help you be a well-balanced adult. We all learn that sometimes, we really DON'T want to do something. But we have to do it anyway. That's one of the characteristics of adulthood.

Don't get me wrong, I am very much a Christian. But what irks me is how much they over-simplify things.
Example: They will tell you something really cool and then say, "Now, how could anyone educated believe this to be the result of chance?! Such a thing is ridiculous and uneducated."
Um, NO. If it were that simple, people wouldn't be STILL debating creation vs. evolution. And not ALL atheists are uneducated. In fact, most, if not all, aren't.
I am of the mindset that over-simplification is the root of all evil.

Hence my hatred of the science curriculum I'm using.

Dadtochickenfan: Okay, maybe this phrasing would be more appropriate than "taking the high road," if you don't believe that's what I've done.
Another car was in my lane going the opposite direction, and to avoid crashing into them, I swerved to the other lane and then went back to my own after they passed.

I'm sure you really deserved your Golden Soapbox.

As far as it being something you're working on, I have actually noticed you're getting better at controlling yourself.

I told you about the Golden Soapbox?

I don't remember telling you that.

I went ballistic on the OWS thread this morning...

Still working on it. And that was after triple-censoring it.
