As a young child my Grandmother would take me by bus to the local spring fed swimming pond so I could play in the water. She would bring our lunch, towels and a lawn chairs on the bus with us.
One time when we were there the police and people dressed in white lab coats showed up and ordered everyone out of the water. Apparently earlier the water had been tested and the sample was positive for Polio!

Slug bugs! That's a new one to me.

When we were in the car and saw a car with an out of state license plate we yelled it out: "OUT OF STATE! LICENSE PLATE! RAH! RAH! RAH!"

I'm sure my parents loved that.

I actually saw one today while out with my son! It was all decked out with psychedelic colors. Just parked at a business. You know I had to yell out..slug bug! And smacked my Austin on the shoulder..lightly, he was driving.

I made my DH a "remote control" out of a fishing pole. He had to sit about 6' from the tv but it worked great! The "eye" on the end was broken so he could use it to push or pull the little power knob to turn the unit on or off, and he could poke the buttons on the tv to choose a channel or control the volume. I felt very smug about the whole thing.

I need to make a remote control for my receiver. The remote is busted and it's annoying to get up to change the volume.
