Sometimes, monotony is preferable to interesting.

BTW, good for you in taking the high road. Me? I probably would have gotten all defensive and launched into a debate, then regret it later.

I'd give $1000 to go back in time 35 years to that same English class...for even 10 minutes!

Yes, school is monotonous. Same paper, same pencils, same books. But i don't think thats the point. You seem intelligent and able to develop a lucid arguement. Yes, you have the right to think what you want and express that thought. But remember, so does everyone around you. When two expressed thoughts dont agree, there will be clashes, and thats not bad. Thats what either sharpens your argument, or makes you realize your position is undefendable. Now, let me ask you a question. I have seen alot of references to "taking the high road". Did you really take the high road if you ended up ranting on here?

I am not sure I have much to offer here, as I found school to be SOOO boring I took my GED and left it all behind. However, the OP's point is an antagonistic TA. Which really should not happen. They should be there for the students and do their best to understand.

A simple phrase like "This is monotonous" should not ruffle the TA's feathers the way it did. And Eenie is right on for complaining. Complain away!!!

Expressing yourself, ending conflict, and looking for support are all good things that should be encouraged in others.

Work hard, be diligent and when you get a job make your employer a lot of money and they will promote you to a supervisory position with better pay and you will be in charge and others will have to do what you tell them to do. School was boring for me also and I can honestly say I never had one bit of homework all through high school and graduated with a B average.

I was a supervisor for one of the largest construction companies in Oregon at the ripe old age of 22 from showing my boss that I knew how to make them money. This is what really matters if you want to be a leader in life, followers are in the rear.
