I'll never use my mixer again! (Warning:Graphic Pics)

It's the skinniest 5 footer I've seen in a long time... there hasn't been a mouse in my house in 3 years.
We've come to the conclusion that it was in the attic. My husband and I patched up any holes leading to the attic about a month ago. (Actually we cemented them shut.) I think it got hungry and made it's way down for a snack...

Hey, if their outside, I'll just scream and run away. But like I said before, it was in MY house!

We've had several (even larger) black snakes coming and going from the attic. Everytime we thought we fixed the holes we would see another. Then, during our wedding reception, one made a beeline for the attic under a guest's chair. (They were climbing up the chimney up to the soffit.)
That was it, it got the croquet mallet. I am through putting up with this.
The very next day, while cleaning up, we got another and it was even BIGGER, like close to 7 feet.
It's embarassing and it scares me more and more everytime.
We want to start a family and I can't imagine WHAT I would have done if I had a baby in the house...

True and plain dish soap and hot water would work fine too but hold out for a new one. Just on principle of hte matter.

It's been soaking all day!

Black snakes will eat poisonous snakes. They are actually beneficial.
However, Guineas are really what you want because they will alert you to snakes (maybe not in the attic) and eat them too.

Personally, I think it is sweet your snake wanted to use your coffee maker!

That snake has excellent taste in appliances. That is a sweet mixer. I'm a big fan of snakes, especially black ones since they are nothing but beneficial. Of course, I can't see how useful he is being while lounging in your mixer.

Seriously though, those black snakes are great for eating mice. When we lived in Florida, we had citrus trees and therefore, citrus rats. I welcomed any and all black snakes into my yard. My house though? I'd have to evict him. Rumor has it, where I live now is known for rattlesnakes. Super big EEK! Thankfully, I haven't seen one yet.

I had a dog that would bark at anything and everything, but snakes were INVISIBLE to her. It was funny to watch her not "see" the snake. Now I have a dog that flips out over bull frogs. (wuss)

Completely not helpful but....

One of the readers the kids use in phonics has a story The Snake Makes a Cake

Well, crap, wish I hadn't made this the last thread to read for the night...there is no way I'm getting up to use the bathroom in the dark now!!

I always tell my kids...outside is there home, don't kill it. But by all means, if they are in MY house, GO FOR IT!!!
