Illinois...

@Faraday40 @Molpet and anybody here who has hatched turkey eggs. I will be cleaning and setting the incubator tomorrow for whatever eggs Faraday40 is kind enough to provide me with. I'm not finding a whole lot on BYC about hatching turkeys though... Ideal temp and humidity? Sounds like temp for forced air incubation is 99.5 F. I want a number for humidity though. The one helpful article I read on BYC mentioned dry incubation if the humidity in the house is fine, but no details on what the house humidity was. 40%? 30%? It looks like they need to grow quite a large air cell from the diagrams I've seen, so I'm assuming lower humidity, like 30%. Not really finding much that assures me of this though.
Turkey incubator temp was the same as chickens = 99.5'F. I think I did 30-35% humidity and then as high as I could go at lockdown which is about 70%. The 2nd time I used a broody hen, so it was very easy.

Random pics from my day:

I made a diaper cake for our neighbor. It includes 96 diapers, a rattle, a ball, a blanket buddy, some little bath ducks, ribbon, and an elephant sensory toy thingy.

Our puppy is growing and still thinks he's a lap dog.

Here's what he looked like in November:

Our "house chicken" Cupcake is feeling better and wanting to go back to the coop. She was out stretching her legs & pecking at the glass door to get outside. The dog was outside scratching on the glass door to get inside.

Mr Dummy's great grandson is this handsome giant:

He's very tall & now filling out. Only 8 months old, so there's a little more growing to do. He'll look his best around 18 months but he's already the size of my female turkeys. I think he's about 24" tall when in a relaxed (non crowing / non stretching) position.

Had a nice visit with @BReeder! today - "talking chickens." The turkey laid another egg this morning which cracked its shell on impact with the ground. Why she insists on laying her eggs as high as possible is beyond me.

So we cracked it open & at 1st I thought infertile. Before feeding it to the dog, I snapped a couple pics outside in natural light. The egg was maybe 3 hours old.

@Molpet What do you think? Please enlarge to see details. Is that a bull's eye or my wishful thinking?

It was a pleasure to meet again. We really need to plan an Illinois BYC picnic or something for 2019...
Now that I look at the pics maybe there is a bulls eye. The outdoor lighting changes the view a bit.

Our puppy tried to get into the bathroom trash can today. This is how I knew:

This puppy gets into everything. He knows how to open most doors in our house, so locking him out of a room only works if we actually use LOCKS.

Apparently he stuck his head all the way into the can & took the lid with him when pulling his head out.

Poor pup is getting neutered at the end of the month, so I guess he better get used to wearing a cone.
