Illinois...

After meeting with @Stephdk and her husband to pick up two beautiful ducks, I am finally home and resting in my chair. The ducks are seeking into their new home. Not surprisingly, the rest of our ducks were not in the duck house when I put these two in so they have it all to themselves - at least until the rest of them decide it's to cold outside.

BReeder! Thank you so much! They look like they are settling in just fine! It was such a pleasure to meet you! I know those two sweeties have found a good home and hope they get along well with your other duck friends and do whatever it is a couple of ducks are supposed to do! A special thanks to all on this board for your help and kind words! I worried about them constantly so incredibly thankful to have found this group of feathered friend lovers!

Guess who's looking pink today?

Since Xansie's sitting on some eggs, DD gave Teddy a "spa day." He lets her do ANYTHING to him. (Last month he had baby-blue toe nails. )
Looks like he had a comb bleed. :barnie:lau

I have blood on the ice around my chair in the poultry yard. No feathers and birds acting normal. I don't see any reason on birds, not sure what happened. Could be a nail I missed.
I'm not sure how many chickens I have in the main coop, so one could be missing. The smaller coops are all there.

DD informed me that "Teddy's not done yet." I guess he's going to get an ombre effect.

Silly me for thinking we merely had a pretty pink chicken.

@Molpet I hope it was just a nail bleed and not a predator. I would guess you'd find some feathers if it was a hawk.

I was seeing lots of runny poops in the LF coop, so I decided to de-worm them. It's quite wet and production is not as high as it was 3 weeks ago. Part of that is because some flock members went missing (sold), and my girls always stop laying when I disrupt the pecking order. But also, I figure it's worth de-worming now before I need the eggs for hatching.

What's your go to dewormer?

I spent a few hours in the coop/shed today cleaning. DS was there to help. In the coop we replaced our roosts, cleaned the poop board, shoveled all the old bedding out and put new bedding down. Then we moved on to the rest of the shed. We removed shelves that were just getting in the way, threw out a bunch of garbage, organized most of the things in there and swept the floor that was covered in dust, dirt and shavings that got out of the coop area.

DS loved helping all along except for his breaks from work to go on the swing set and lunch, which he forced me to take a beak for as well.
