OMG guys!!!!! She voraciously just ate and is still eating. Holy hell, Mary Mother of Jesus, she is EATING!!!!!!!!! I am crying right now. I couldn't say if it is the mealworms, the thieves oil, or the cuddles, but she just downed some food!!!! She even took two steps (the promptly laid down), but she took the two steps. I am going to put on her favorite song now and see how she reacts.

I have not felt this hopeful yet. This I haven't been this emotionally invested in a duck IDK before.

It is silly, but she and I dance and she does have her favorite songs. When I hear her churtle to this again I know we will be in the clear; but she did do a lot of tail wags. This song is kind of a soundtrack of our life together; I was a begrudging duck mom, but couldn't imagine my life without her now. The best failed rescue ever; and this is our love song.

Sorry, I'm overwhelmed with emotion right now.

Don't ever apologize for loving something . Love for an animal is a beautiful thing. It shows compassion to hurt when someone you love is sick or hurting . I bet she feels so loved .

Another 5 live mealworms; still no walking, but she is doing nom noms on my fingers and toes.

Well guys; the vet said not to bother coming in for a crop feed because she is eating enough that it is not necessary. He is happy with the amount of mealworms she is eating and said the high protein and fat is good for her right now and he likes how her poop is looking. He even asked me to send over a copy of this documentation so he can follow along and share it with other duck parents. Cautiously optimistic, but if she keeps up the way she is she just might be okay. Still no walking, but she is 'bright', alert, happy and all the other good things. So I will keep up with the float therapy, diffusing the oils, mealworms, and daily sunshine. I am stunned at the amount of improvement in the last 24 hours. I even cancelled the 'bucket list of last days' trip we were going to do; am going to save it for a victory tour. lol I am 100% attributing the turnaround to the oils, so I am going to put the recipe I use below.

Thieves oil mix:
40 drops clove bud
35 drops lemon
20 drop cinnamon bark
15 drops eucalyptus
10 drops rosemary

I then put 15 drops of that blend into the diffuser. She does 3x/day in a closed bathroom, and run the diffuser in the house almost constantly.
All wheezing stopped, no more labored breathing, rests very well, and is alert and happy.

I'm so happy we chose not to do the medication that taxes the body and sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

Gahhhh!!! Dewey discovered that she does, in fact, like live feeder minnows!!!! She just went ham on the bowl they are in and ate about 8 of them, killed a few and lost interest in those, and is saving the rest for later. When I massage her crop instead of feeling her windpipe and bones, I feel an actual crop now. I've stopped counting the mealworms because she is eating that many.

Still no walking, but we are about to do her float therapy and outside time, I so hope-hope-hope she will walk.

She has also gained 2.5 ounces. Still a ways to go to put back on the weight lost, but it is at least now rising instead of declining.
