I'm Curious about the Size of your Coops

I would wager that those of us who are intended to be done several weeks ago. :frow

We are currently doing a carport conversion coop at our new place. It will be 8x15 with an attached 15x40 run. We plan to keep 25-35 chickens in it. I expect a smaller bantam coop will be in our springtime plans as well.
Well, where's the build thread? ;)
Did you have a carport coop before?

Nope, this is a new setup for us. Our old coop was much smaller so it was a more manageable build. That and my husband swore he would NEVER roof anything again. The carport was a nice (albeit not cheap) compromise. The build thread is coming.... I've been taking pictures.

I must have you confused with someone else.
Post build link here when you get it going, eh?

I think we talked about it back when I was in the initial planning phase a few months ago. Of course, we ended up buying a different carport and are doing something entirely different for the run but I think it will work out well. I'll start a thread soon, I'll be in trouble if I don't get back to painting soon ;)

I've got a 4' x 6' raised coop (with 3 nest boxes that stick out, so more like 5' x 6') with an attached 6' x 12' predator proof run. Everything is situated within a 30' x 50' fenced area so they can range with out the dog killing them. I've only got 5 girls, but in hind sight I wish their attached run was a bit bigger, ie 6' x 15'. They're locked in there during the day when we're at work, and during the winter when they refuse to venture into the snow. If it was a little bigger then I would have room to add a couple more perches and boredom busters while still being able to maneuver.

My chickens can't stand the snow either. They will come out if there's hay to stand on, but straight snow is the boogeyman to them. :)

Save leaves and make a leaf path when it snows either that or shovel your butt off! They'll come out but only on the condition no snow touches those dainty chicken feet. :lau
